Scrub Sheet, Summer 2013
I am honored and proud to serve as the Pittsburgh Chapter of AORN’s President. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
As perioperative nursing professionals, we have always embraced and adapted to continually changing technology and advances in surgical techniques and procedures. Through AORN, we have set the standards of our profession to ensure that our patients receive optimal care.
Our culture is changing. We have been asked to do more in the same amount of time and with less resources due to budgetary restraints brought on by the changing health care environment. Many of our budgets and our staffs have been downsized. Some of us have been mandated to take time off without pay due to a fewer number of surgical cases than we had at this time a year ago. We have learned what HCAHPS, Value Based Purchasing and AIDET are and incorporated their standards into our daily practices so that our facilities will receive full reimbursement for our services.Filed Under: Latest News,
